Over the last few years have created DAYS of content and built a following on Youtube, Instagram, and TikTok. I am not a video guy by any means and my first videos don’t even come close to what I am able to make now.
The interesting thing about that though is that I’M STILL ONLY USING MY SMARTPHONE TO MAKE THIS CONTENT.
When creating videos for myself, other creators, and companies I have found that the easiest way to stand out from others is GOOD SOUND and GOOD LIGHTING.
Getting those two things is a lot easier than most people think, and there are two AFFORDABLE items you can buy on Amazon to make your own awesome smartphone videos!
Ring Light
A ring light is an easy-to-use multipurpose lighting tool that enables you to obtain a source of uniform light that comes directly from the point of view of your camera.
Ring lights produce an attractive halo shadow that outlines your eyes & face and creates a dramatic and professional look for filming. Put your phone in the middle of the light, turn all of your room lights off, and go for it!

2. Lavalier Microphone
With front-facing cameras the built-in phone mic is great as long as you are in close proximity to the device. For anything where you are further than 2-3 feet from your phone I suggest looking at a lavalier microphone made to connect to smartphones.
They make these with both TRRS and Lightning connectors depending on what kind of phone you’re using. Here is a link for the TRRS version and for the iPhone-compatible version.
With those two items you have all you need to make great content on your phone!
