FREE Expense Tracker for Freelancers!

I’m giving something away!

It’s the New Year and I’m giving a free gift for anyone who wants it. Stay tuned til the end to find out the details.

So with the year wrapping up I have started the exciting process of adding up all the expenses I’ve accumulated over the year. As someone whose done freelance work the last decade or so, I have a number of systems in place that make this process a lot easier for myself.

One being that I keep a tally throughout the year and keep it up-to-date.

Having a process in place to track mileage and expenses as they occur will keep you from dreading the end of year or tax season reconciliation.

Now my bank, Novo does a great job of this but it’s only good for budgeting and categorization. Mileage is another issue.

You can use a service like Quickbooks self-employed for that, but that requires a monthly subscription and may not offer other features you need.

So to avoid all of this I decided to build an excel file that allows you to track your expenses and mileage on a weekly basis.

And I’m giving it away.

This sheet is set up to be something you can access on your mobile device and do on the fly.

For mileage, simply write down your mileage before you leave, and when you get back. The math is all done for you. Same with expenses.  Put the date, the amount, the vendor and the category and it will do the math to show you the totals at the end of the week.

This file is free for anyone who signs up for my mailing list! Just put your info in and it’ll  be emailed to you right  away!

Now, this is the bare bones method of keeping tabs on your expenses.

For this to work you will have to duplicate this sheet for every week and keep it current.

For those of you who are interested in something more comprehensive I also have a version of this that is set up for every week of 2023 with all of the totals for each quarter and year-end tallies already programmed and formatted. If you are interested in that it is available for $9.99.

That price is less than a single month of Quickbooks self-employed and at the end of the year provides just about as much data when it’s time to start your taxes

So if you are ready to take content creation or side hustle seriously go ahead and grab these now so you are ready to hit the ground running in January!
